Creepy old abandoned mansion on Phoenix Way, Wednesday evening

Pinkie had spent all day -- barring her class, of course -- getting the mansion ready for the Halloween party. If anyone had any protests over her rather liberal use of black and orange balloons, streamers, party hats, table cloths, and confetti, she wasn't hearing them over the noise of her party cannon.

Kitty made a fantastic party helper, at least, helping rearrange what little furniture was already set up (so that's what hands were for!) and doing the many things that even the party cannon couldn't do (such as keep Pinkie from eating all the snacks before the party could even start).

Then, at last, it was time to get into costume. Pinkie had promised to show Kitty just what Nightmare Night was all about, and her Nightmare Moon costume delivered in spades, if she did say so herself. Sure, the glowing contact lenses were uncomfortable, and the black make-up was going to be rather difficult to get out of her coat later, but she was rocking those plastic fangs.

After setting up, Kitty had gone home to get ready and then came back for the rest of the fun.

Look, her day had involved a party cannon. That meant the pre-party stuff was fun, too.

She'd bought the mask (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/dirtiest_skank/51057319/6206/6206_original.jpg) and shoes (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/dirtiest_skank/51057319/6120/6120_original.jpg), yes, and was wearing a standard turquoise tank top and black shorts under the tutu, but otherwise this was her best sewing tour-de-force since last spring's new wardrobe.

She was maybe sticking to the sidelines a little, for the moment, because she wanted to people-watch, but she was sort of itching to show off, still.

"Omigoshomigoshomigosh!" Pinkie had a camera out to snap pictures -- don't ask how she managed that with hooves -- and clicked away at Olive's. "My friend Rarity would die if she could see that!"

A few moments later, meta Zorro came over. The hooded mask over his head might have made him a little hard to recognize, but the fact the first words out of his mouth were "Okay, that is way better than the Blue fairy," should have removed all doubt.

Laurie's costume (http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/img/photos/2012/10/11/8c/11/sexybigbird.jpg) may have reflected that she was a terrible person, or it may have reflected that she looked great in yellow. Could be both.

Either way, she was here and all mingly and mixy and looking around for hot straight dudes. She was convinced that the count couldn't really be as low as she thought.

Atton was - naturally - there for the free food and drinks. And while he had actually learned about the holiday (and gotten cheap costume offers from Sparkle) choosing instead to wear a slightly longer shirt and an arrogant expression.

He was dressing up as a Jedi, see.

Eric didn't dress up for Halloween. He was a vampire, he was always in costume.

But he did break out the leather pants for the night and found himself a corner to lurk in--hopefully beating Derek to the good one.

Mike asked this jokingly, it should be noted. Because Eric looked kind of intimidating, and Mike really didn't.

It was hard to be an intimidating Marilyn and he really had no need to even try.

Allie had only had a very brief description of what Halloween was from Tiny. She didn't have a costume, but the all black clothing and long leather coat fit the vampire trope pretty well.

She found a corner where she watch the goings on.

If Kitty's costume had gotten a reaction, well, Mike was dressed as Marilyn (and rocking it, thank you), and coming over with a friendly smile on his face because it was the best way to approach people in corners.

He lived with Derek, he was starting to become an expert.

"Hi, I guess I should be a good host – or hostess – and ask if you need anything."

After talking to Olive the week before, Victor had decided to put more than his standard five minutes of thought into his costume. He was Zorro, masked and in black with a (foil-and-cardboard)sword strapped to his waist, but he'd put the effort into finding real leather gloves and a fancy belt.

The gloves were not great for his manual dexterity, but the whole thing looked cool and that was what mattered.

Jaina had never once done anything special for Halloween, but she'd still shown up. All in black, too, so she was sort of trying, if you didn't look at the fact that she did that fairly often anyway.

Okay, so, Mike was doing his best to cut down on all extra costs right now, so it made sense to use a costume he already happened to own. No, not one of those costumes, thanks. Another one.

... Oh come on, like there was anyone around that didn't think that dress complimented his shoulders. Or that he had the legs for it (shaved – he was yet to break out of that habit after six years).

He looked utterly comfortable, though that may also have had something to do with the drink in his hand. Also, he may have already had a few before the party had even started. Because the party cannon was a terrifying thing.

Clint had definitely taken the easy way out, and had shown up in his SHIELD uniform, with his jacket and, very reluctantly given the locale, without his bow. If anyone needed him, he'd be beelining for candy and keeping an eye out for a certain sexy lady.
