So! As of Pinkie's last canon catch-up, she now has access to a canon method of traveling between human and pony worlds. This method actually turns ponies into humans, and humans into ponies. Because MLP has a canon all-human high school AU. Because friendship is MAGIC.

Pinkie would absolutely love to take advantage of this fact and have Twilight bring the Cultural Exchange class to Equestria for one of their classes AS PONIES. Basically, it'd be like the occasions when Fandom has turned people into ponies on the island, only for the duration of the class.

Is this something you all would be interested in doing? It would happen not in next week's class, which is right before Thanksgiving for USians, but the week after, for the class of December 2nd. That gives you two weeks to make a pony icon if you like (there's a nice easy pony creator here). Please let me know if you're interested -- we could have a Portalocity portal open up for those who want to stay the shape they're already in, that's not a problem, but it will change the structure of the class itself if we have a humanoid and pony mix.

locointhecoco: (step right up)
The plague has begun. Dozens of Pinkie clones are running amock through the streets of Fandom, looking to be entertained. They're moddable. They're irritating.

And if you would like one to thread with, ping here with a link and let me know.

(I will also do my best to honor ooc notes with "Pinkies welcome" or whathaveyou on posts, if you'd rather go that way.)

Hi all! Just wanted to offer up a quick apology for how totally flaky I have been over the last few weeks. I managed to volunteer for several projects this fall, and even procrastinating on those has resulted in somewhat of a lack of RP brain for a bit. I will try to do better, though the projects are not all done and likely won't be until after the holidays. Pleasepleaseplease poke me if there's something you want my characters in on that I have managed to miss, and I will do my best to throw them in, and if I've dropped any threads anywhere you want me to pick back up, let me know?

I love you all, darlings, and I am not ignoring you on purpose, I promise.

Derek and Pinkie would luuuuuuuuuuuuurve a couple folks to pitch in and redirect Pinkie's energy away from Derek help out with the Art of Friendship (and Glitter!!!). Responsibilities will mainly include rolling your eyes at Pinkie being Pinkie and Derek being Derek and wondering just what blackmail material Pinkie has to keep Derek actually team-teaching with her.

Or, you know, maybe in an unlikely event where neither Derek's mun nor I can do so, posting a class.

Priority goes to gradumacating seniors, if more than two people want it, RNG will be employed, yada. Weee!

ETA: OH YEAH AND COMMENTS ARE SCREENED. Forgot that bit.

So this is slightly last minute, thanks to life and LJ funkiness (is it just me, or is the only part working with relative speed the spam comments? Seriously, I logged on to FOURTEEN of them on various accounts, today), BUT.

Pinkie and Derek's class, Friendship 101, could use a good TA or two. Someone to put up with Pinkie so Derek doesn't have to! Alternately, someone to assist in forcing Derek to actually participate! Ultimately, someone to wrangle Pinkie's stock of mustaches.

Questions? Volunteers? If more than two sign up, RNG will be utilized.

So with the new townies today, I remembered that if you hover over the little person icon in a journal name (depending, I suppose, on your settings/browser/computer set up/etc) it pops up a little bubble with a nice, easy, non-new-page-opening friending link. Since I find this way easier to deal with than lots of clicking, I put together an as-up-to-date-as-I-can-figure-out list of game journal names and popped them into a table for minimal scrolling. And, well, since I figure I may not be alone in my anti-clicking nature, I figured I'd share it with you all, as well.

This won't make the nice friending groups the admins have set up for us work, but it'll at least get the journals showing up on your default view!

eta from the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] upmysleeve:
For those who have the hover menu turned off and thus don't see any pop-ups, it's not dependent on your journal style; it's just a yes/no option that you can set in the admin console.

To turn it on: set opt_ctxpopup Y
To turn it off: set opt_ctxpopup N
So, without further ado:

Lots of journals )

Also, it may be easiest to start at the bottom of a column and work your way up. That way, it's easy to keep track of where you are, and you don't have to dodge the bubble to get to the next name.
locointhecoco: (kind of wrong)
If anyone would like to be a TA for Pinkie's Model UN class, let me know! No Model UN experience required, since the teacher dun't have any, either.

Comments be screened.

So Pinkie is teaching Summer Games of Harmony, this session, and that means she's looking for a couple good Olympic committee members TAs! TAs will be there primarily to wonder what the hell Pinkie is on, but also to provide judging services for any events not based on timing (the TAs scores may well be completely disregarded by the all-powerful RNG dictating the winners of each event, but they'll at least get to look serious and hold up numbers!), and to post class in the unlikely event that I won't be able to (I have not had to ask a TA to do this, yet, but who knows, ja?).

Comments are hopefully screened. Preference will go to gradumacated senior types, then the all-mightly RNG will step in.

Why do I feel the need to build an alter?
locointhecoco: (chocolate rain)
So the description for Pinkie's class got swapped (I blame trying to post my comment while vacation-brained), so here's what I meant for it to say:
History is awesome! Take a (really really apocryphal) tour through exciting events in history, of both Earth and Equestria! Battle dragons! Settle new lands! Drink tea with the Tsarina of Tokyo! This class will have it all!
Now go sign up for it!

Anyway. Pinkie will also be wanting a TA or two for her class, because TAs are fun! Anyone interested, please leave a comment here (they should hopefully be screened). If I get more than a couple volunteers, priority will go to any graduated seniors trying to stick around on the island, then to RNG.

Yay, summer workshops!

I meant to post this on Friday, but I got distracted, and then spent all day yesterday fighting with my dying net book and dealing with phone internets and much of today wandering around, so I'm only just NOW getting to it.

Hi! I'm on the opposite side of the country than I'm used to!

I'm in Portland on vacation until Thursday morning. I have wireless at the hostel I'm staying at, and Portland has a lot of free wi-fi, but, well, PORTLAND. I'll be busy going to gardens and buying voodoo donuts and meeting crazy Engligh girls who talk me into things like buying expensive toys to replace my dead netbook.

Claudia is helping Artie out with an issue at the Warehouse. Sam is a grumpy looking house cat. Vincent and Zinzi will kind of just not be around, and Pinkie will be around in human guise for the BDE, but not super-prolific. I'll be back to my usual availability by Monday next week.

Vacation, wooo!
locointhecoco: (rubber chicken)
I meant to do this earlier, but! Pinkie would like a TA or two for her Elements of Friendship class! This semester, I'll even try to think of more for the TAs to do!

Basically, what we're looking at here is: ping into the TA thread in the class. Potentially be a fashion critic or in charge of a team for group exercises. And be prepared for adventure! And maybe pinch hitting if I don't manage to post class one week!

Any takers? Comments are hopefully screened.
locointhecoco: (100% Pinkie approved)
Hiiiiiiii! So Pinkie is terribly disappointed that her plans for the end of the semester were foiled by the Nothing, but that's not going to stop her from making sure that the class goes out with a bang!

Not literally. Well, maybe literally, if she decides to use the party canon.

Anyway.

One of the most important moments in a young pony's life is when he or she gains a cutie mark. You know the tramp stamp balloons on Pinkie's ass flank? That's her cutie mark. It's a symbol that appears spontaneously when a pony realizes his or her special talent, the one thing that makes him/her totally unique from the other ponies. This is so important that ponies have been known to throw "cute-ceanera" parties to celebrate. Yeah.

It has come to Pinkie's attention that humans might not actually have cutie marks. In fact, she's probably decided that the reason they wear pants all the time is to hide this fact. So, in the last class of the semester, Pinkie's going to GIVE her students cutie marks, thanks to the magic of friendship the Danger Shop! And then they get to throw their own classwide cute-ceanera! Because who doesn't like a party?

So here's your official heads up, to start thinking of what your character's cutie mark might be. It can be anything (pictographic)! For instance, if Sam and Claudia were in Pinkie's class, their cutie marks would be a sandwich and gears, respectively. Vincent's would be a cup of Vinspresso, and Priestly's would be . . . also something cooking related. I already figured one out for when everyone turned into a pony, but I can't remember what it was, and I can't access my photobucket account from work. Whatever you choose, it will appear on your character's shirt/dress/hip/forehead/some other visible spot during class.

As this is Danger Shop powered, it will only last as long as the class period does, but Pinkie may well take note of each character's cutie mark and send them all t-shirts with them on there on Friday. ETA This will in fact be happening, and the shirts will be delivered by K. /ETA

I keep thinking I need to remember to post this and then . . . not remembering to post this. So now I am remembering to post this, yay!

Okay, so. This week in Pinkie's class, she's going to make use of a plant (or a simulation of said plant) called "poison joke". This is a magical plant native to the Everfree Forest, rather a bit like poison ivy or poison oak, but instead of a rash, it causes hilariously personality-appropriate afflictions to make one's life difficult. For instance, when Pinkie ends up in a patch of it in canon, it makes her tongue swell up with blue spots so she can't talk or sing clearly. So, Pinkie being the slightly sadistic teacher she is (or at least not entirely clear on the concept that not everyone is subject to cartoon physics), she's going to program a patch of poison joke into the Danger Shop for all the students to traipse through and get their own fun afflictions.

So here's your heads up, to give you time to think of something fun to do to your characters. Basically, it takes something that the person values, like the power of speech or being big and strong or their beautiful hair and turns it on its head by making their tongue not work or shrinking them down or giving them dreadlocks.

Or it makes you sound like Barry White.

The effects will be Danger Shop powered, and as such, won't last beyond the confines of the class itself.

As you do.

So, I'm one of those lucky users who fall under the "so some users may have difficulties in accessing the service". Which means it can take upwards of five minutes for a ping to go through from me after I press the "post comment" button.

This would naturally happen on Pinkie's class day.

Anyway. No idea if this is affecting my other journals, but odds are, pings from me will be super ssslllooowww.

ETA and we appear to be back to normal operability. Yay!
