Creepy old abandoned mansion on Phoenix Way, Wednesday evening

Pinkie had spent all day -- barring her class, of course -- getting the mansion ready for the Halloween party. If anyone had any protests over her rather liberal use of black and orange balloons, streamers, party hats, table cloths, and confetti, she wasn't hearing them over the noise of her party cannon.

Kitty made a fantastic party helper, at least, helping rearrange what little furniture was already set up (so that's what hands were for!) and doing the many things that even the party cannon couldn't do (such as keep Pinkie from eating all the snacks before the party could even start).

Then, at last, it was time to get into costume. Pinkie had promised to show Kitty just what Nightmare Night was all about, and her Nightmare Moon costume delivered in spades, if she did say so herself. Sure, the glowing contact lenses were uncomfortable, and the black make-up was going to be rather difficult to get out of her coat later, but she was rocking those plastic fangs.

Mike asked this jokingly, it should be noted. Because Eric looked kind of intimidating, and Mike really didn't.

It was hard to be an intimidating Marilyn and he really had no need to even try.

"They're atmospheric," Eric declared, "and relatively glitter-free." He arched an eyebrow. "Nice costume."

"Thank you, mister," Mike replied breathily. Because there was no point in being Marilyn if you weren't going to do the voice at least sometimes. "I can see your point about the glitter, though. Think the pony portion of the party team gets a little crazy with that stuff."

"It's kind of a theme for parties here," Eric said dryly. "Tiny's vacuuming it out of the carpet at the club for a week even if the party is nowhere near our place."

"Yeah it gets everywhere." Mike threw a glance Derek's way. Yes, eveeywhere. Even on grouchy housemates!

And then he looked quizzical about something. "Wait, the club? Does that mean you're Derek's boss?"

"Mike Lane, pleasure to meet you, sir," Mike replied with an easy nod. "Of course, I work at Caritas, so I don't know how much I should be fraternizing with the enemy."

That was a joke, yes, because as had just been stated, he already lived with one of Eric's employees.

"Oh, fraternizing is at least a few hours and some tequila shots away from happening," Eric said with a little grin. "And my club doesn't have zombies. I think that speaks for itself."

It had a DJ with terrible taste in music, but at least his limbs didn't fall off.
