locointhecoco | Creepy old abandoned mansion on Phoenix Way, Wednesday evening

Pinkie had spent all day -- barring her class, of course -- getting the mansion ready for the Halloween party. If anyone had any protests over her rather liberal use of black and orange balloons, streamers, party hats, table cloths, and confetti, she wasn't hearing them over the noise of her party cannon.

Kitty made a fantastic party helper, at least, helping rearrange what little furniture was already set up (so that's what hands were for!) and doing the many things that even the party cannon couldn't do (such as keep Pinkie from eating all the snacks before the party could even start).

Then, at last, it was time to get into costume. Pinkie had promised to show Kitty just what Nightmare Night was all about, and her Nightmare Moon costume delivered in spades, if she did say so herself. Sure, the glowing contact lenses were uncomfortable, and the black make-up was going to be rather difficult to get out of her coat later, but she was rocking those plastic fangs.

A few moments later, ~~meta~~ Zorro came over. The hooded mask over his head might have made him a little hard to recognize, but the fact the first words out of his mouth were "Okay, that is way better than the Blue fairy," should have removed all doubt.

Olive preened a little, adjusting her mask. "Thank you, dark and handsome stranger who I definitely don't recognize," she said, grinning at him. "I like your sword. Very badass."

"I think it might even be deadly to a housefly," Victor told her, grinning back. "I like your ... everything, Miss Peacock. How long did the skirt take you to make?"

"Couple weeks, but I haven't, like, been slaving away at it," Olive noted. "It's just a bunch of tulle and I added the feathers the other night. I found the pattern on Etsy and it was just, like, easiness from there. Though Sparkle did point out that I'm technically cross-dressing."

In a totally fabulous sort of way.

"Yeah, because boy birds are always the flashy ones," Victor said, once he'd gotten his head wrapped around how anything with high heels and tulle could be cross-dressing on Olive. "Which is weird, right? I think humans are about the only animals where girls are flashier."

"I dunno, I've met some pretty flashy guys," Olive mused. "Though yeah, as a general rule we're the ones with the plumage."

Weird.

"Oooh, you even went all out and got the gloves," she added, just noticing as she reached out to examine one of his hands. "Gonna make texting or anything hard, but I have to appreciate authenticity."

Also she thought he just generally looked kind of hot, but this was Olive, so she had to cloak it in like fifteen layers of intellectualism.

"They're coming off as soon as I want to eat anything," Victor said, flexing his fingers stiffly. "I feel like I'm wearing thick mittens half a size too small. But they make an impression, so..."

So, maybe he was a little bit flashy sometimes.

"They really do." Calm down, Olive. "No, seriously, it's a...really awesome costume. I love Halloween," she said, and maybe it was a little bit of a sigh. Shut up. "Especially since it seems like you're like the only dude who actually dressed up other than Marilyn over there. Stiles and Atton were super-lazy."

Victor glanced at the men who had been named. "Okay, Atton's just being Atton, but how is a red hoodie a costume?"

"He's Little Red Riding Hood," Olive explained, rolling her eyes behind her mask. "Right? I said the same thing." She was so not mentioning how Stiles had attempted to ruin anyone's jawline, but she was defensively thinking that it was fine to her. "I spent weeks on this, he shows up in a red hoodie. Stupid."

"Some people are freaking lazy," he decided. "I mean, it's kind of clever, but ... lazy. Almost as bad as those t-shirts that say 'This is my costume.'"

"Halloween is like, sacred," Olive added, nodding. "And it's a great opportunity to look awesome in a way you wouldn't normally. I mean, how often are you going to see me in a tutu? Never. And Atton's something called a Jedi, which sounds like an extra cop-out to me because I don't even know what that is."

"Maybe for you," Olive said, leaning over to kiss his cheek. She didn't have to even involve her toes or anything, thanks to her heels. "If you ask nicely. I'm also open to bribes."

Victor turned so he could return the kiss with one on her mouth. "Mmmm. Okay. What kind of bribery ware we talking? Mix CD, or weekend in Paris?"

He could do one a lit easier than the other.

"My French is terrible," Olive said, shaking her head and reaching out thread her arms lightly around his neck. "Alas. So more like the former than the latter. And fair's fair -- what do I have to do to get you to dress all swashbuckler-y more often? Because seriously."

"Seriously?" Victor asked, and laughed a little. "Um ... knowing you like it will probably do it for me, as long as I don't have to go to class looking like I stepped out of some '80s pirate movie."

He brought his nose closer to sniff her hair. Mmmm, Olive hair....

"I have better taste than that," Olive assured him, inclining her head a little. "What can I say? I'm a weird girl, but I'm still a girl. I like a guy in a dashing mask and sword combo, even with an irregular jawline." Pause. "No facial hair, though. We don't need that to come up again, even if it works for some be-masked antiheroes."

"I appreciate the compliment in there, and I get that you didn't like the mustache," Victor began defensively, ignoring the fact nobody liked the mustache, "but -- wait, what's wrong with my jawline?"

His fingertips went up to pat it, as if it might have moved since he last looked in the mirror.

Oops. "Nothing. Stiles and I were maybe talking about Scott's redeeming qualities, 'cause I said he was dumb and then said he makes up for it by having a cute face -- " See, that was nice "-- and then Stiles tried to ruin it for me. It's okay, I tried to ruin his non-girlfriend back home in return."

She had failed. Stiles could not be swayed on Lydia.

"Also, no one liked the mustache. Tony asked that I use feminine wiles to keep you from regrowing it. I don't even have feminine wiles and I told him I would."

"Yeah, I wouldn't trust Stiles' opinion about my face," Victor decided. Nothing against Stiles, he just wasn't trying to date him. "And ... okay, fine, I surrender on the mustache, but as the one dating you I will disagree that you don't have wiles."

She didn't know what it would involve, exactly. But she'd been prepared!

"Totally more psycho," Olive replied. And if she was sneaking into his room, it would not be to shave his face, thank you. "I think being all wily in this case means like, batting my lashes and flashing a little leg or something. I don't know. I told you, I'm wile-free."
