Pinkie had her desk covered in various brightly colored flags from around the multiverse -- really, the internet was an amazing thing -- and her serious face on as she waited to greet any students and their families.

And if she got bored, well, she'd spend the whole day playing flash games.

...Definitely distracted by a squirrel. But they had the most interesting conversation! It was mostly one-sided and in murmured tones, but Fluttershy felt quite pleased with the encounter with her new friend.

She was a little less certain about the visit as a whole, as excited as she was to see Pinkie Pie again. Her head peeked around the corner of the door, as if half afraid to find something terrible and terrifying inside. Her relief to find that it was just Pinkie Pie was incredible, though that Serious Face was pretty scary!

"Oh!" she said, shrinking back a little before poking her head back in with nervous curiosity. Her eyes roamed all around the room and she stayed at the door for the moment. "Oh, my." Her voice was wispy-soft and quiet. "What a nice little office you have."

"Isn't it great?!" Pinkie said with her usual boisterousness, now that she knew it wasn't a student's parent coming to see that Pinkie was a proper teacher. "They just gave it to me and everything!"

Fluttershy chuckled a little, feeling even more relief that this certainly was Pinkie Pie and her office and that she'd finally managed to find it and she took a few steps in for a better look and because, let's face it, it would be relatively safer in side, because it was safer when you knew the dangers of what was in a room rather than the unknown that was outside of it. "That's wonderful!" she said, heartfelt and gushing, as gushing as a quiet little breeze could be, anyway. "Is this where you plan all of your classes?"

"You're supposed to plan classes?" Pinkie was the best teacher, ever. "This is where I think up the ideas, sometimes. Did you get to see some of the island? There are teal deer here. They're the best listeners ever!"

Fluttershy was about to tell Pinkie that she was there to see her, but then she was completely derailed by everything else that was said.

"Teal deer?" Fluttershy asked, almost gasping, her eyes going wide and eager. "Like teal ponies? Oh, and I do love a good listener! I met so many squirrels on the way here, Pinkie Pie! That's...that's why I'm a little late! I'm so sorry! I came here with Rainbow Dash, we flew in, that took us a little while, too, but, oh, when we got here, I saw this nicest Mr. Squirrel, and he had a hat, and a notebook, and he was writing, and he told me all about how he's a reporter, and he had the tiniest little pencil, it was so cute! And then he said he had all these little squirrel friends..."

Funny, you'd think maybe the teal deer would be coming to Fluttershy at this point. And, really, the squirrel hadn't said any of that stuff, but Fluttershy could just tell.

That was her special talent.

"Just wait till tomorrow morning, we can all listen to their radio news show! The squirrels write it all up and then lots of different folks from the island read it for everyone to hear. That way, you always know just what's going on with all your friends!"

"Really?" Fluttershy's voice squeaked a little, as it was wont to do when it tried reaching anything over a mild whisper. "Ohhhhh, I can't wait! I bet they write the best stories, too, and how nice to know what all your friends are doing! Have you made many friends while you've been here, Pinkie?"

Then she broke off with a little giggle. "Well, of course you have. You're Pinkie Pie!"

"Well yeah! Everypony's my friend! Even the ones I haven't met yet!" That was just how she rolled. "But my very bestest on-island friend right now is Derek! He's a little grumpy, but that's just how he shows he cares!"
